Inventor of both the electric telegraph and Morse code. Handwritten poem on a 5 x 3 off-white slip, dated December 30, 1846. Morse pens a poem entitled Sunset and Sunrise. In full, “Contemplate when the sun declines, Thy death with deep reflection; And when again the rising shines, Thy day of resurrection.” Signed at the conclusion “Samuel F. B.
