ANS, one page, 7 x 4, no date. The end of a longer letter reads, in full, 'her movements in advance. Mrs. P. [?] her kindest regards to yourself and daughters. Yr. friend, Franklin Pierce.' An ink notation in another hand at the lower border reads 'Presented by Capt. Tho. Turner, U.S. Navy, May 24/56.' Pierce's presidency was 1853-1857. In very good condition, with two vertical folds, one touching a letter of the signature, slight paper loss to the corners from a previous mounting, light edge toning, small bit of adhesive residue to upper right corner.
