Description

The only American to have received our nation's four highest awards, The Medal of Honor, the Distinguished Service Cross, the Distinguished Service Medal and the National Security Medal. During World War II, he founded, and then led, the OSS (Office of Strategic Services), the predecessor of the Central Intelligence Agency. TLS, one page, 8.5 x 11, Donovan Leisure Newton and Irvine letterhead, September 18, 1947. Letter to a gentleman. In part, 'I would be very glad to act as a member of the committee for the dinner at the Waldorf Astoria. Unfortunately I cannot attend the meeting with Archie Dawson on the 22nd.' In fine condition, with a bit of light toning to right side and expected folds. RRAuction COA.
