Duke of Wellington writes a letter during the Peninsular campaign

Born Arthur Wellesley, Wellington was responsible for Napoleon's crushing defeat at Waterloo. ALS signed 'Wellington,' one page, 7.5 x 9.75, November 29, 1812. Letter to Admiral Martin. In part, 'I have decided the Commissary General to send to Covinia five thousand suits of [?] for the use of the Corps of Spanish troops...and shall be much obliged to you, if you will provide a ship for the conveyance of this equipment to this port.' Matted and framed with a color portrait of Wellington, to an overall size of 18.25 x 15. In fine condition, with light mailing folds. RRAuction COA.
