Description

'You see I am at my old tricks - sending out printed letters - but I hope they are better than none.'

Founder of the American Red Cross. ALS signed 'Clara,' one page both sides, 5.5 x 7, Glen Echo, June 20, 1911. In part: 'Dearest Sister Harriett, you see I am at my old tricks - sending out printed letters - but I hope they are better than none. I can only add that I am getting stronger. Mrs. Hinton [?] was with us a few weeks but has gone north. I do hope dear Sister Mary is better. Sending off a few hundred of these printed circulers [sic] to acknowledge the unread letters of last spring; in my illness; I hope it will do. Don't mind answering this. Keep well, and rest, and we will meet some day. If it gets too hot here, I may have to flee north if I can. Send love to all.' In fine condition, with scattered light creasing affecting nothing, 'Clara Barton June 20, 1911' is written in ink in another hand in the upper right corner of the reverse. RRAuction COA.
