Sam Houston

Attracted to the struggle for Texan independence, he led the Texan army at the battle of San Jacinto and became the first president of the Republic of Texas. After the admission of Texas as a state, he became a senator. He was the governor of Texas, but was deposed when he refused to swear allegiance to the Confederate States of America. Ink signature, 'Sam Houston,' on an off-white 2.5 x .5 clipped slip affixed to a slightly larger off-white slip. In fine condition. RRAuction COA.
