Adventurous English traveller (1839-1878) who was murdered while serving as political agent at Bamo by a sepoy of his guard. Cooper had angered the man by having inflicted a slight punishment on him. Rare ALS signed 'T.T. Cooper,' one page both sides, 8 x 5, personal letterhead, June 12, 1874. A letter apologizing for not keeping his appointment as he had to go to the India Office. In part, 'Dear Stanley, Just as I was seeking out for you this morning I remembered that I had to go to the India Office. I will call at 11 o'clock. If this is not convenient, please let me know.' In fine condition, with a couple of small, light stains, light vertical fold through the signature affecting one letter. RRAuction COA.
