Union general who was removed from command by Lincoln for failure to continue pressure on Lee's army during the Peninsula Campaign. ALS signed 'Geo. McClellan,' one page both sides, 3 x 1.5, no date. Short ALS to a doctor, written on one of his personal visiting cards. In full, 'I don't think Mrs. MC is any better and will be glad if you will come to see her about 3 this afternoon.' Accompanied by an ALS from the doctor, dated 1886, acknowledging the letter and forwarding it to a friend, 'May you emulate his illustrious and magnanimous character...so that your autograph may be wanted by the autograph fiend.'
