Kluge was the master of the blitzkrieg and the brilliance of his campaign brought him promotion to Field Marshall in July 1940. Led troops in the offensive against the Kursk salient, July 1943, USSR. On August 17, 1944 Hitler replaced him with Model, and ordered him back to Germany. Knowing the fate that awaited him he committed suicide on August 18th.
