War dated handwritten endorsement, as President, signed 'A. Lincoln,' and dated October 27, 1863, on the front of a mailing envelope addressed, 'The Sec. of War, Washington, D. C.' Lincoln ponders the discharge of a soldier. In full, 'I suppose by what Hon. Mr. Kellog of Michigan says on his personal knowledge, this boy should be discharged, but I submit it to the Secretary of War.' In fine condition, with a bit of light toning and soiling, address affecting just a couple letters of one word of endorsement and a red ink notation.
