Description

Interesting Roger Chaffee archive as he begins his time in Houston

Astronaut who died tragically in the Apollo I flash fire that also claimed the lives of Virgil Grissom and Edward White. Interesting archive showing the excitement of Chaffee and his wife for their new home in Houston and Chaffee's training in 1964. Highlight of the archive is a one page ALS from Chaffee, dated June 15. Chaffee writes to his parents giving them his new address and talks about his new office. Letter is accompanied by two original hand drawn pencil sketches of plans for his house, both the inside and outside layout, and a letter from Chaffee's wife to his parents giving even more details on the new home and his training at the Grand Canyon. Collection even has a postcard from his wife in which she circles their approximate house location. In fine condition. RRAuction COA.
