DS, signed 'George R,' one page, 14 x 10, October 1, 1755. Document appoints Davison Day to the rank of Ensign in the 5th Regiment of Foot. This regiment later served in the Boston area and fought at Lexington, Concord, Bunker Hill and Long Island. Signed in the top left corner by George and bears three official tax stamps.
