Description

Jabotinsky on "better literature" including Tolstoy and Dostoevsky

Author of a Zionist journal, Jabotinsky also wrote novels and an autobiography. ALS, in Hebrew, signed 'V,' one page, 5.5 x 4, October 20, 1927. "Forgive the dirtiness of this postcard - I saw this side only after I wrote your address and I don't have another one. Everything is okay by us, except that Sonia Uvna is very weak after the operation, and in addition to her other pains she also has a toothache. Eri is advancing in arithmetic - to my consternation, he started to read 'better literature' that he was so against until now; he found Anna Karenina 'boring' and now is reading 'Crime and Punishment' and I'm worried to think what he will say about it. Peace and blessings, V." Eri was Vladimir's son, and continued his father's political work in Israel, as well as becoming a mathematics professor. He was about 17 years old when this letter was written. In very good condition, with scattered toning and soiling, scattered edge wear and some light surface loss to top left corner. RRAuction COA.
