Brackett, 5th Mass. vols...He was severely wounded during the campaign from the Rapidan to Petersburg, but returned to the field whilst he was a cripple...He is now I am glad to say quite well...He desires a posting in the regular army...and I am sure that no young man in any service is more deserving than he.'
