Handwritten letter from Ronald Reagan, unsigned, penned on both sides of a 5.5 x 8.5 sheet of 'From the desk of…Ronald Reagan' personal stationery, no date [mid-to-late 1970s]. In full: "I appreciate your letter and am most grateful for what you are doing in my behalf. I've been aware for some time of the Governor's campaign to portray me as opposed to Soc. Sec. It is of course completely dishonest. My only criticisms of Soc. Sec. have been that it isn't good enough and that those in charge have been careless with the peoples money to the extent the program could eventually find itself in real trouble. Strange isn't it that Gov. Brown is the man who walked angrily out of his office a few months ago & refused to meet with the Sr. Citizens who had come all the way to Sacramento to tell him of their problems? Best regards." In fine condition, with staple holes to the upper left corner.
