Highlights include the Articles of Confederation of May 20, 1775, the Declaration "setting forth the Causes and Necessity of Their Taking up Arms" adopted by the Continental Congress under John Hancock, various other complaints from the colonies, and accounts of the Battles of Lexington and Concord and the Battle of Bunker Hill. In addition to these political affairs, the volume contains essays, poetry, scientific reports, and sundry other articles.
