Eminent French sculptor (1834-1904) best known for designing the Statue of Liberty. ANS in French on one of his personal 4 x 2.75 calling cards, imprinted with his name and address, "Aug'te Bartholdi, 82 rue d'Assas." In full (translated): "It will be necessary to dine at exactly 7:00 P.M. because we have reserved seats at the Chatelet to see la Mission Marchand [The Commercial Mission] and la poudre de Perlimpinpin [a powder supposed to have magical powers, used by charlatans]." In fine condition.
