Scott Carpenter's staple-bound NASA manual entitled "Project Mercury Recovery Procedures," Issue 2, dated April 16, 1962, 33 pages, 8.5 x 14, signed on the front cover in pencil by Carpenter, with another hand adding his surname to the upper right corner. The manual covers the astronaut, helicopter, ship, aircraft and pararescue procedures for all probable situations arising from spacecraft landings in both the planned and contingency landing areas. Another hand has annotated several pages of the manual. In very good to fine condition, with a central horizontal fold, and light creasing and soiling from use. Accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from Farthest Reaches.
