Three partly printed DSs signed by a 19th-century American president, “Andrew Johnson,” “R. B. Hayes,” and “Grover Cleveland,” each one page, 8 x 10, individually signed at the conclusion by said presidents, directing their respective Secretary of State to affix the Seal of the United States to an envelope containing the following:
The Johnson document, April 12, 1867, “a letter addressed to His Excellency The President of the Republic of Uruguay accrediting Alexander Asboth as Minister Resident.”
The Hayes document, March 12, 1878, “a letter accrediting Wm. C. Goodloe, Esq’re as Minister to Belgium.”
The Cleveland document, January 8, 1886, “my letter addressed to His Majesty Christian IX King of Denmark on the death of his brother Duke Frederic de Slesvig-Holstein-Sonderbourg-Glucksbourg.” In overall fine condition, with faint toning to the folds of the Johnson document.
