American financier and railroad executive (1848-1909) who controlled several railways in his lifetime—including the Union Pacific Railroad—influencing much of the US economy. DS, signed on the reverse, “E. H. Harriman,” one page, 23.5 x 14.5, August 11, 1880. Fernandina and Jacksonville Railroad Company bond for $1000, complete with forty attached coupons. Signed on the reverse by Harriman as a trustee. In fine condition. Harriman was mentioned in the 1969 Western film Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, starring Paul Newman and Robert Redford.
