Pioneering gospel singer, songwriter, and guitarist (1915–1973) best known for her ‘crossovers’ into the secular worlds of pop and jazz. Vintage matte-finish 8 x 10 photo, signed and inscribed in fountain pen “To Connie, Good luck always, Sister Tharpe, Cotton Club 1938.” In good condition, with heavy scattered creases, one through the inscription, spots of soiling to the left side, paper loss to each corner, a few light tears to the edges, and toned tape remnants to each corner, yet signature remains strong. Scarce in this format. RRAuction COA.
