Description

“I never read reviews of my work and I’m always glad to hear that there is something interesting that I can bring to a part on the screen”

TLS signed “Richard,” one page, 8 x 10, The Dorchester letterhead, July 1, 1968. Letter to a pair of admirers in New York. In part: “I certainly do remember you and am sorry that my peripatetic life prevents receipt of more letters like yours. They are all very much appreciated. As you know, I never read reviews of my work and I’m always glad to hear that there is something interesting that I can bring to a part on the screen. I’ve been told that ‘Boom’ is not an enormous success in the United States which surprises and confounds me for I believe that it is one of the most stimulating films I have done for some time. ‘Dr Faustus,’ of course, was a labour of love and I’m pleased that you enjoyed it. I think it is a good film and I’m proud to have finally been able to do it. As for the Broadway stage, I wish I could give you a date for another appearance there. I long to get back to work before live audiences but the problems are great and many.” In fine condition, with scattered wrinkling and an original ink correction to the text. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RR Auction COA.
