Description

“Cheer up—God is Love. I think you are well-rid of Miller. He is a bastard”

TLS signed “George,” one page, 8.25 x 10.75, Paramount Publix Corporation letterhead, February 4, 1932. An early letter to his assistant, Elsa Schroeder. In part: “Cheer up—God is Love. I think you are well-rid of Miller. He is a bastard, and takes advantage of you. Nothing good could ever come for you with any association with him—forget it. As for Mr. Rapper, I prophesy he won’t even last three months because he is an utter fool. As for the Kent Garage, darling, why should I be angry—it’s not your fault. You thought it for the best and so did I. Forget it… Darling, you must pull yourself together—I know that Miller has absolutely beaten down your morale. Rest a bit—don’t worry and something very good will come to you. This sounds like Pollyanna, but I know it’s true. As for me I just finished the Chevalier picture and I am slated to do one with Miriam Hopkins soon. I love my house which is really charming, and I love California—and I wish you were here—but cheer up, we may do something about that.” In very good condition, with intersecting folds, staple holes to the upper left, overall scattered wrinkling, and mild haloing to the signature. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RR Auction COA.
