Description

John Quincy Adams

Ink endorsement, “J. Q. Adams,” on the reverse of a partly-printed DS, one page both sides, 8.25 x 7, April 14, 1792. An order for the sheriff of Hampshire County, Massachusetts, to have Aaron Billings appear in court to answer to William and James Cunningham for an unpaid promissory note. Signed on the reverse in black ink, “J. Q. Adams.” In very good condition, with intersecting folds, professional repairs to two vertical folds, scattered toning and soiling, and a few edge chips. Adams’s signature is crisp and unaffected by any of the faults. After serving as an attorney for three years, George Washington would appoint Adams as minister to the Netherlands. Pre-certified John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
