Vintage matte-finish 10 x 8 photo of Bogart and his third wife, Mayo Methot, posing with their three dogs, signed and inscribed in fountain pen by Bogart, "To Eloise & Woodie with thanks for their help, Bogie," with his wife adding "Mayo &," in front of her husband's signature. In fine condition.
Bogie married third wife Methot in 1938, and although the two were professionally successful, their marriage was characterized by heavy drinking and intense fighting (they became known as 'the Battling Bogarts'). The marriage ended in 1945 when Bogart left to marry Lauren Bacall. Methot's temper and drinking problems led to a decline in her career. Afflicted by alcoholism and depression, she struggled to support herself, and she died in 1951. A rare and spectacular image. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
