Partly-printed vellum DS, one page, 14.5 x 8.5, July 3, 1807. Land grant issued to John Whistler of the Indiana Territory for a parcel of land under an “Act of Congress entitled ‘An Act providing for the sale of the Lands of the United States in the territory north-west of the Ohio and above the mouth of the Kentucky River.’” Signed at the conclusion in ink by Thomas Jefferson, and countersigned by his Secretary of State James Madison. In fair condition, with trimmed edges, overall mild wrinkling and creasing, scattered light toning and moderate soiling, affecting legibility of both signatures, missing seal, scoring to seal area, several small pinholes of paper loss, and both signatures fairly light, but still mostly legible.
