Partially printed DS as president, signed “M. Van Buren,” one page on vellum, 13 x 16.25, March 21, 1837. A commission for G—Gansvoort as a naval lieutenant. In poor condition, with wrinkling (touching first letter of signature), scattered soiling and staining, large internal tear (touching printed header), seal partially removed, and poor ink adhesion rendering signature quite light but still legible.
