Description

Wolfman's father—a rare oversized still signed by Lon Chaney, inscribed to the future editor of The Wizard of Oz

Striking vintage matte-finish 14 x 11 photo of Lon Chaney emulating the iconic 'Whistler's Mother' painting, signed and inscribed in fountain pen to an early female film editor, "To my very dear friend Blanche Sewell, Sincerely, Lon Chaney.” In fine condition. The recipient, Blanche Sewell, worked as an editor at MGM from 1925 through 1949, working on a number of classic films including The Wizard of Oz and Grand Hotel. Her only known collaboration with Lon Chaney is the 1926 film Tell It to the Marines, which was the biggest box office success of Chaney's career.
