Partly-printed vellum DS as president, one page, 16 x 9.5, June 2, 1823. President Monroe grants Benjamin Clements a tract of land "in the District of Tuscaloosa and State of Alabama containing Seventy nine acres and forty four hundredths of an acre." Signed at the conclusion in ink by James Monroe, and countersigned by Commissioner of the General Land Office John McLean. Lower left corner retains the original paper seal. In very good to fine condition, with scattered light foxing, and all of the handwriting, including Monroe's signature, quite faded but still legible.
