Description

“The Beatles would have to hold my hand when I asked for them to be autographed”

Pair of petite white ladies’ gloves, approximately 7.5″ long, one signed on top in black ink, “Paul McCartney, xxx,” and the other signed on the top in blue ballpoint, “George Harrison,” and on the palm, “Ringo Starr.” In very good condition, with McCartney’s signature a shade light, and scattered soiling to both. Accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from Tracks, as well as by five unsigned original color snapshot photos, two showing the Beatles in concert and three of McCartney and Harrison at the time of signing. Also includes a detailed letter of provenance from the original recipient, who acquired the signatures before their concert at the Las Vegas Convention Center on August 20, 1964. A group of teenage girls had traveled to the concert to present the Beatles with a ‘Key to the City’ of Phoenix, Arizona, and in describing her outfit, the original recipient notes, “I added white gloves on purpose, so the Beatles would have to hold my hand when I asked for them to be autographed.” A unique set of autographs with outstanding provenance and an interesting history.
