Three items concerning the assassination of President Garfield, including: a bulletin put out by his doctors on September 5, 1881, concerning his condition, in part: “He has taken with some relish the nourishment administered by mouth”; an LS by George B. Corkhill, the prosecuting attorney in the case against Garfield’s assassin Charles Guiteau, one page, September 29, 1881, in part: “Concerning your attendance as a witness in the case of U. S. v: Guiteau…You will not be needed as a witness before the Grand Jury next week and should you be needed upon the trial of the case you will be notified in due time”; and a 9.75 x 6 engraving from the memorial service held for Garfield. In overall very good condition, with considerable wrinkling and fading to the doctors’ bulletin, and a bit of foxing to the engraving. RR Auction COA.
