Union officer in the 55th New York, captured by Confederate forces at Wilderness and later exchanged. Original 2.25 x 4 carte-de-visite photo by Rockwood of New York, signed under the image in black ink, “Capt. Philip Clayton Rogers A.D.C,” and also signed and inscribed on the reverse, “Lieut. Philip Clayton Rogers, 3d B. 1st D. 2d AC, to Lt. Col. Husk with my kindest wishes.” In fine condition, with a two-cent revenue stamp affixed to reverse. RR Auction COA.
