TLS signed “D. E.,” one page, 7 x 10.5, personal letterhead, August 8, 1966. Eisenhower regretfully declines an invitation to an event centering around one of his favorite pastimes—golf—in the aftermath of his two major heart attacks in 1965, writing, in full: “Many thanks for your greetings and the note. Without a doubt I would have enjoyed attending the All American Golf Dinner with you at the Waldorf tomorrow evening. However, for a while at least, such things are just not possible for me.” In fine condition, with scattered light creasing. Pre-certified John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and RR Auction COA.
