It fits and I’ll wear it!” On the same day, Clinton addressed a thousand-dollar-a-plate fund-raiser in Somerset, New Jersey, the first “official” event of his re-election campaign [i.e., the first financed in part or whole by his re-election committee]. Carey (1962–2001) was Clinton’s Special Assistant for Legislative Affairs and later became one of the five members of the Securities and Exchange Commission. He died of cancer at the age of 38.
