Arthur composes a telegram of condolence, in full: “I am much grieved to hear of the death of Colonel Burns & send you my sympathy in your great affliction.” Addressed at the top in Arthur's hand to “Mrs. Burns, 58 Beach Street, New York,” with the date added in a secretarial hand.
