FDR congratulates a Sequoia National Forest employee on his recent appointment

TLS as president, signed “Franklin D. Roosevelt,” one page, 7 x 8.75, on pale green White House letterhead, June 11, 1935. FDR congratulates a Sequoia National Forest employee on his recent appointment and goes on to say: “I am sorry that the very number of requests for personal messages which I receive each day prevents me from sending you an opinion to pass along to your C.C.C. boys — but I do wish you happiness and success in your new work.” Accompanied by the original mailing envelope. Double matted and framed with pair of White House TLSs, each one page, 6.25 x 9.25, respectively dated February 28, 1940, and August 17, 1940. The first letter sends “gratitude and appreciation for this unselfish devotion to the service of the Government” to a Mr. Rockwell, who has held a position in the Social Bureau and is forced to retire due to illness. The second letter, less than six months later, is a condolence letter to Mrs. Rockwell following Mr. Rockwell’s death, to an overall size of 30.75 x 24.75. In fine condition, with expected folds to all three. R&R COA. Oversized.
