Partly-printed vellum DS as president, one page, 14.75 x 19, March 12, 1851. President Fillmore confers Brevet Captain Lewis G. Arnold with "the rank of Major by Brevet." Signed at the conclusion by President Fillmore, and countersigned by Secretary of War Charles M. Conrad. The beige War Office seal is pinned to upper left. In very good to fine condition, with areas of light staining, and Fillmore's signature a shade light.
