Description
Hungarian magician and escape artist (1876-1945) who was the younger brother of Harry Houdini. The founder of the Magician's Guild, Hardeen was the first magician to conceive escaping from a straitjacket in full view of the audience, rather than from behind a curtain. Society of American Magicians membership card issued to Arthur Prince for 1929-1930, 4 x 2.5, signed at the bottom in fountain pen by Theo Hardeen as president, and countersigned by Royal Lee Vilas as secretary. In fine condition. Arthur Prince (1881-1946) was a music hall entertainer and ventriloquist best remembered for having his dummy, Sailor Jim, sing while Prince drank a glass of water or smoked a cigar.
