French novelist, poet, and critic (1852-1935) who was nominated for the Nobel Prize in Literature five times. Vintage matte-finish 6 x 7.75 portrait of Bourget in a near-profile pose, affixed to a 7.25 x 9.5 mount, signed on the mount in fountain pen, "Paul Bourget." In very good to fine condition, with overall silvering, primarily to the background.
