Description

Olive green zip-up sleeping bag assembly, approximately 68″ in length and 25.5″ in width, with head and arm holes, a swatch of loop Velcro to right chest, and a series of four snap closures to bag bottom; the reverse side features parallel zipper lines, a pair of opposing 33″ long straps, and a parts tag: “Sleeping Bag Assy., V669-002000-018, 2D628-H015035.” In fine condition.

This is the second generation sleeping bag first flown on the Space Shuttle around STS-70, which remained in use to the end of the Shuttle Program. These green sleeping bags replaced the original blue sleep restraints that were first flown on STS-1. Crew members had the option of adding a foam pillow, or pallet (hard board) if desired. A Velcro strip on the outside top right side is used to attach a color coded Velcro strip for crew member identification. The consignor notes that this Class I flight item was purchased as NASA surplus.
