Rare handwritten invitation in German from Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, signed "Goethe," one page, 4 x 3.25, presented to singer and composer Karl Melchior Moltke, in full (translated): "Sir. C. S. Moltke, invitation, for a sociable meal at two o'clock, Wednesday the 9 Nov. Goethe." Dated on the reverse in another hand: "Anno 1825." In fine condition, with trimmed edges and lightly mottled toning. A warmly penned invite from the great German scribe.
