Schulz is mentioned multiple times in the book; on page 323, Ike describes his trusty aide: "Major Robert L. Schulz, now Brigadier General, U.S.A. (Ret.), has been with me for twenty-one years, is usually the first to see me of a morning in my office and the last to see me off at night. No crisis, even the small ones that upset most people, ever seem to unhinge him.
