Description

Remarkable collection of screen-used items from the 1976 Western prison break film The Last Hard Men, consisting of Charlton Heston's sheriff costume, James Coburn’s prisoner outfit, and a wall-mounted gun rack used in the sheriff's office. Includes:

Charlton Heston's screen-worn costume from his role as retired Arizona Ranger Captain Sam Burgade, comprising his soft tan long-sleeved shirt with red bandana, black vest, and brown pants. The chamois shirt features two button-down pockets on the chest and a purposefully made bullet hole to the right side, with a 20th Century Fox tag sewn into the back, filled out in type: "Job: A/23, Date: 10/15, Name: C. Heston." The faded red bandana is tied under the collar, and the black vest worn over the shirt is included. The brown pants are unlabeled. Includes a glossy 6.5 x 9.5 photo of Heston in this costume on horseback, posing beside Old Tucson Studios founder Bob Shelton, signed and inscribed in black felt tip by Heston, "Bob—it was fine to work with you, Chuck."

James Coburn's screen-worn costume from his role as escaped prisoner Zach Provo, comprising his worn out gray-and-white striped shirt and pants. The shirt features five black buttons down the front for closure, with unhemmed sleeve cuffs and bottom. The pants have a drawstring waistband and "Amalgamated Clothing Workers of America" label sewn inside. Both the pants and shirt are marked "LW 3" in felt tip, perhaps indicating an originally intended use for Larry Wilcox, who also appeared in the film; however, Coburn is seen wearing this costume in scenes after their escape. Also includes a green felt cap with two white stripes.

A screen-used wall-mounted wooden gun rack from the sheriff's office, measuring 38″ x 3″ x 2″, featuring notches for six rifles and one chain with leather belts for securing a firearm. In overall very good to fine condition. Robert Shelton's Old Tucson Studios Collection
