Description

Political leader and publisher (1887-1940) who was a staunch proponent of the black nationalism and Pan-Africanism movements. TLS, one page, 7.5 x 9, Universal Negro Improvement Association letterhead, October 30, 1936. Letter to Edna Greer in Camden, New Jersey, in part: "This acknowledges with thanks receipt of your letter of the 6th October stating that the Charter of the 400 Division of Camden, has been turned over to your Club through the instructions of Mr. Haynes…we are now officially informing you to keep the Charter until a new one is issued under the same number." Impressively cloth-matted and framed with a portrait and biographical caption to an overall size of 22.5 x 23.75. In very good to fine condition, with irregular overall staining affecting only appearance.
