Exceedingly rare original first edition, first issue of the Mickey Mouse Book, the first Disney-licensed publication, and the first book to feature the character of Mickey Mouse. Published by Bibo and Lang in New York in 1930, 16 pages, 9 x 12, this first Disney book features its original green wrappers, includes two short stories, ‘The Story of Mickey Mouse’ and ‘Mickey Mouse March’; a Mickey Mouse board game, with all game ‘pawn’ pieces intact; and a three-page score for the song ‘Mickey Mouse (You Cute Little Feller)’ by Irving Bibo and Henry Cohen, with the song containing the original uncensored lyrics ‘When little Minnie's pursued by a big bad villain / We feel so bad then we're glad when you up and kill him.’ The bottom of the title page bears the “1930, Walter E. Disney” copyright; subsequent issues were copyrighted 'Walt Disney Enterprises' and 'Walt Disney Productions, Ltd.,' until December 1938 and, after that date, 'Walt Disney Productions.’ In very good to fine condition, with toning and creasing to the front cover, and staining to the back cover; interior pages are generally fine, with small tears to the bottom of each page. An exceptionally nice copy of this rare first Disney title.
