Limited edition 17 x 22 giclee print of a Paul Calle sketch entitled ‘Neil Armstrong,’ which shows the Apollo 11 CDR in his white space suit before the mission launch, numbered 72/250, signed in the lower right in blue ink by Calle. His preprinted signature is present below. In very fine condition.
Paul Calle was the only artist present with the Apollo 11 crew as they prepared for and suited up for their historic launch to the moon on July 16, 1969. His on-the-spot pen-and-ink sketches of the ‘Suiting Up’ process are on display at the National Air and Space Museum in Washington, DC. Calle was one of the original group of artists NASA selected to artistically document the Mercury program and the beginning of the U.S. Space Age. As an official NASA artist, Calle covered the Mercury, Gemini, Apollo, and the Shuttle programs, effectively spanning three decades of space art.
