Partly-printed DS in French, signed “Laennec,” one page, 7 x 9.25, April 1, 1826. Laennec and his colleagues Rullier and Desormeaux, examiners from the Faculty of Medicine, give their agreement to the thesis defense of a student. In full (translated): "Today, Thursday 1st April 1824, we, teachers at the Faculty, have been nominated to judge the fifth oral exam of Mr. Delaye (Jean-Baptiste), and we have interrogated him on internist and externist medicine. We have been satisfied with his answers, and we suggest that the Faculty accepts that he defends his thesis." Boldly signed at the conclusion by Rene Laennec, as well as Marie Alexandre Desmormeaux and Pierre Joseph Rullier—both famous doctors at this time. In fine condition. The student, Jean-Baptiste Delaye, defended his thesis on facial paralysis affecting insane people and went on to devote his career to mental illnesses.
